Slough Community Network is maintained by SloughCouncil for voluntary Services and is a network of all local voluntary and community groups in Slough. A full program of training is offered to develop and strengthen the voluntary sector in Slough and the network serves as a way to distribute relevant information. More information on the network can be found on the Slough Council for Voluntary Services website - a link to which can be found on our links page.
One role of the network is to make the voice of the voluntary sector heard and to enable this Community Champions have been recruited to represent key issues raised by the network.
One of the fourteen issues is:
"Creating an atmosphere of greater undestanding between the Statutory and Voluntary sectors" and I have volunteered to take this issue forward.
Over the last year I have canvassed widely within the voluntary sector to find out just what people mean by this and what they would like me to do. In order to take this forward I have produced a document which details the difference in working practices between all sectors. If we are hoping to have better working relationships between sectors then a greater level of understanding will only help.
Please contact me at Volunteer Centre Slough for a copy of this document.
I would also be interested in your thoughts. If you have any ideas on how you think working practices could be improved then please let me know.
