WWAGS - Wonderful Women And Girlguiding Slough

In partnership with Girlguiding Berkshire and the Volunteer Centre Slough the WWAGS project is aimed at recruiting, training and supporting potential new leaders into voluntary roles working with local groups of girls aged 5 plus.

Next course starts Tuesday 8th November 10.30-12.30. Please contact us to reserve your space.

Lesley – a local Guide and Senior Section Leader who mentors new trainee leaders presented the trainee leaders with certificates and Guiding resources at a celebration lunch recently.
As part of the project, the participants explore the benefits of volunteering with Girlguiding which includes free training, DBS check, uniform and access to many wonderful opportunities including international travel.

The first group of Wonderful Women have recently completed the project already volunteering with local groups of Rainbows girls aged 5-7, Brownies 7-10, Guides 10-14 and Senior Section 14 plus. They are developing new skills such as first aid, organisational and leadership. As well as gaining great satisfaction in providing a safe space for girls to have fun, develop friendships, learn and get involved in a wide variety of activities from crafts to canoeing.

The WWAGS project is ideal for those interested in gaining experience of working with children. Participants will gain a nationally recognised leadership qualification. Have access to weekly support, but most importantly have fun whilst enabling local children to be part of an inclusive group to have access to adventure and great opportunities.

Jane Morrison - Project Manager said “The WWAGS Project is a great success. Linking local women who want to give their time to groups of children in their local community. The new volunteers help to run a fun programme of activities whilst developing new skills themselves.

The Volunteer Centre is able to match people to a wide variety of volunteering opportunities. We have hundreds of interesting roles available including trustees, befrienders, youth workers, administrators and animal helpers.
